Welcome

Welcome to the Mid Glamorgan County Cricket Association website. The aims of Mid Glamorgan County Cricket Association are to:

  • foster the development of Junior Cricket in the region for and on behalf of Cricket Wales
  • help develop players to the best of their ability within a team ethos
  • allow junior members to play cricket in a safe and enjoyable environment

Mid Glamorgan County Cricket Association is responsible for organising junior representative cricket in the Local Authority areas of Bridgend, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil.

There are nine regions in the principality, all acting under the guidance of the governing body of the game - Cricket Wales. Boys and girls in Mid Glamorgan from under 10 to under 15 are identified and nominated for Winter trials with the region by their club or school. After a 4 week period of coaching and observation, the squads are chosen at each yearly age group, from under 10's to under 15's, boys and girls and the squads usually number 14-18 players.

Mid Glamorgan then play competition cricket at each age group against other Welsh regions in addition to friendly fixtures against these regions and English representative teams.

The more talented players will be nominated for trials for the Welsh representative teams, where their skills will be assessed by Cricket Wales coaches. Representing Mid Glamorgan can be a springboard to full Welsh Honours and County cricket or purely improving skills to utilise when playing Junior or Senior cricket back at their clubs.
